CATCH-UP WITH APPRENTICE: EDDIE MOODY

As it was his one-year anniversary of being a Cosyseal employee, we thought to catch up with Apprentice Eddie Moody to ask how he’s getting along.

Hi Eddie, how did you find out about the Cosyseal job last year?

I found out about the apprenticeship through my brother, who was already working at Cosyseal. He explained Cosyseal’s apprentice programme and asked whether I would like to join and learn on the job.

What made you apply for the Cosyseal Apprenticeship?

The reason I applied was to become trained in different positions. Cosyseal assured me they would train me from the basics as I knew nothing about windows last year!

How has your role developed/changed?

At first, I joined at the head office. I was sorting out stock, learning about different components, emptying trucks and preparing windows for next day installations. I then worked as a labourer with an engineer so I was learning on the job and later through other window fitters. I achieved my Health & Safety Certificate and am working on my FENSA Installation accreditation.

What new skills have you learnt whilst undertaking your first year at Cosyseal?

I think that my confidence and communication has improved very well as I have been speaking with customers and co-workers. I am also glad to have switched positions having worked my way up from the warehouse to fulfilling all roles in the Apprenticeship.

What do you like most about your career/job role?

The thing I like the most is the banter between all the employees and the learning that comes from experienced staff. I also like the clear promotional path and the long-term job prospects.

How is it working with your brother?

I am lucky to be working with my brother because he is a very hard-worker and easy to learn from. He is also very willing to help me learn, and I appreciate that he spoke with the managers to give me the apprenticeship position. He is a great older brother.

Describe your Cosyseal job in 3 words.

Challenging, Satisfying, Enjoyable

And what about your boss?

Oh, at first, I felt it was so scary like working for Lord Sugar! But you get to realise he wants is the best from you to keep standards high for the whole of Cosyseal.

How do you see the future for you?

I’d like to achieve my FENSA installation certificate, as I said. I would like to progress up the ladder and become a senior engineer.
