FIERCE DRAGON AND UNIVERSITY INTERVIEWER

Dipak Patel, Cosyseal’s General Manager, recently played the role of a ‘Dragon’ in a local school’s Dragons Den workshop.

Trinity School, located a few miles from Cosyseal, reached out to Dipak and asked whether he could be a Dragon, a potential investor to students who would pitch in the style of the Dragon’s Den TV programme. Five Year 10 students would go through a rigorous elimination process trying to convince Dipak and the other Dragons to part with their ‘cash.’

The students pitched their business start-up ideas in the Trinity School auditorium in front of the Dragons over a hundred parents and teachers. Their ideas included a coding programme to help identify illnesses from home as well as an alarm system to alert deaf people who were asleep in bed.

Dipak tells us he was the Peter Jones of the Den, asking questions that the students hadn’t prepared for such as ‘the scalability of the idea/product’. Although he liked each idea, he didn’t invest in any however a winner was picked.

Dipak has also conducted mock interviews for university hopefuls at Trinity School. As an Economics graduate, he assumed the role of a university professor and interviewed Year 13 students wanting to study Economics at university. Dipak quizzed students on micro- and macro trends, why they want to study Economics and then provided feedback so the students were well-prepared for their actual interviews.
